ISTVÁN KULINYI
painter, designer
Started his professional studies at Ernő Fischer. In 1973 graduated at The Academy of Fine Arts as graphic artist, his masters were József Baska, Sándor Ernyei and József Finta. Lives and works in Budapest.
Multi-faceted artist, beside his sovereign works he is dealing with vision, object and installation designing. Significant works the cultural billboards of the 70s and 80s, like posters about Liszt centennial, sport, book and movie, and the exhibition installations designed for TVK. Made unique series of graphics for the German Kempinski company for years, which decorates the hotels of Corvinus Budapest, Palais Taschenberg and Adlon Berlin. Designed and patented generative artistic games and systems, called Artplay which were exhibited at American notable art fairs.
He was working in behalf of professional designers' defence for long years, after realizing the lack of Hungary's cultural sod. In 1985 designed a contemporary billboard album in honour of the 100 year-old Hungarian billboard with the title of 'Present-day Hungarian Billboard'. In the 90s framed and designed the books of Design '92 and '94. In 1996 founder of the 'Advert and Graphic' magazine and of the 'Step to future' tender.
